LEONARD PFEIFFER IV

Leonard Pfeiffer has been well recognized in the executive search business for more than 25 years, personally completing over 300 searches for some of the most prominent corporations, associations and charities in the country. Beginning his career on Wall Street, Leonard served as a Senior Partner for the two largest search firms in the world.

In 2001, he assembled a team of highly focused recruiters and opened his own recruiting firm to provide corporate and not for profit clients with true personal service. Over the years he established his company as a force in the industry, recruiting over 200 CEOs/COOs in the private and public sectors.

In addition to recruiting senior executives for such prominent entities as United Way of America and the US Postal Service (2 Postmaster Generals), he has also recruited senior accounting executives for the head of the American Institute of CPAs in New York and played a key role in recruiting a new international head of the IFAC. Leonard has also recruited senior executives for well-known brands such as ALCOA, Verizon/Bell Atlantic, Champion, Duke University, Fleetwood, Jackson Laboratory, Lafarge, McDonalds, MCI and Sprint. Two of his more colorful assignments were the CEO searches for Ducks Unlimited and The Country Music Foundation.

Prior to relocating to Washington to start his own firm, Leonard was an executive recruiter in New York City where he focused on financial clients including Bankers Trust, Citibank, and Goldman Sachs. He virtually re-staffed the entire International Department at Bankers. Prior to his work in New York, he managed the San Francisco office of an international management-consulting firm (he opened their operations in Honolulu), and served on the executive staff at American Express working on marketing projects in the USA & Europe.

Mr. Pfeiffer can also boast one of the most impressive ‘fill records’ of any firm in the recruiting industry. In a profession that admits to ‘fill records’ between 45% and 66%, Leonard’s company has filled 98% of his searches. This is because Mr. Pfeiffer created an atmosphere of personal dedication to every client within his company. Leonard’s 25 years of success in the executive search business ensures his clients not only the best guidance and counsel in the identification and selection of candidates, but also in the delicate area of contract negotiations and background investigations. Highlighted by the fact that he is often asked to provide expert opinions, independent perspectives, and thought leadership on a variety of topics relating to CEO hiring, compensation, and Board interface. He has also authored news articles on ethics and executive recruiting, which have appeared in notable publications.

Leonard Pfeiffer has also devoted a considerable part of his time outside his professional life in the search industry to institutions and causes that he values. He has been a speaker at major universities and conventions. He is/has been on the Boards of prominent not for profits including: the National Blood Foundation, National Building Museum, National Center for Missing Children (Chair, Finance Committee), Community Foundation, The Harvard Business School Club of WDC, Special Olympics, Project Hope, and the National Head Injury Foundation. He also served on the Admissions and Activities Committees of the Harvard Club of NYC.

Leonard, the oldest of 7 children and son of a school teacher, was raised in suburban New Jersey and Pennsylvania, commissioned a Lieutenant in Military Intelligence, and holds a BA and MBA from Harvard University. At an earlier stage in his career, he was a choker-setter in an Oregon logging camp and baled hay on a horse ranch in Montana.
